Enterprise Week

In the week beginning 30th June, all Year 9 students took part in Enterprise week. The aim of the Enterprise week was to develop the critical skills; collaboration, problem solving, decision making, communication, creativity, risk taking and innovation.

The Safety of Outdoor Education.

Safety

Safety is critical in Outdoor Education. The highest standards of safety are demanded. Macmillan Academy has a strong reputation for organising and leading off-site trips, residential visits and outdoor activities. Experience counts. All outdoor education, adventure and challenge activities, from climbing and caving to rope work and canoeing, have been carefully assessed for inherent hazards.

Leadership & Management

David J Exeter, Director of Outdoor Education heads our Outdoor Education provision at Macmillan Academy. David is a qualified Mountain Leader and Climbing Instructor and is a highly experienced outdoor professional. He has worked for the Outward Bound Trust for a number of years as a Senior Trainer. The Macmillan Academy Safety Management Committee meets regularly to review our procedures and activities and its membership includes Senior Leaders and Managers.

Expertise

Macmillan Academy takes the greatest care in selecting, training and monitoring our staff and external suppliers. All Macmillan Academy Outdoor Education staff are CRB checked and trained in First Aid. Our Director of Outdoor Education, David Exeter, is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning, an accreditation scheme for outdoor education professionals.
