Post 16 Dress Code
We are proud of the fact that there has always been a Post 16 Dress Code at Macmillan. Our Post 16 students contribute to the Academy's positive image and are excellent role models for our younger students.
As part of our continued commitment to high standards, our Post 16 students are expected to attend the Academy dressed in a smart and professional way. This enhances our corporate image and makes our students readily recognisable. Our dress code also helps to eliminate 'dress' competition which detracts from our educational purpose and reduces the risk of contravening health and safety requirements.
THE POST 16 DRESS CODE COMPRISES:
- Dark, tailored suit or jacket.
- Dark, tailored trousers, skirt or dress.
- Collared shirt and tie, ‘v’ neck sweater or cardigan.
- Collared blouse (not sleeveless), sweater or cardigan.
- Sensible, dark coloured footwear.
- Religious attire which conforms to the Dress Code.
- Macmillan Sportswear.
We look forward to welcoming appropriately dressed Post 16 students to the Academy and reserve the right to decide what is NOT appropriate.
THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ALLOWED:
- Denim clothing
- Sportswear (other than Macmillan sportswear)
- Clothing with stripes, checks or logos
- Inappropriate footwear including boots, stilettos, trainers and flip-flops
- Any revealing clothing including vests, low-cut and short tops, low-waist trousers and mini-skirts.
- Outdoor clothes indoors.
NON-COMPLIANCE
Students who fail to comply with the Dress Code requirements will be asked to go home and change into appropriate clothes and return. Tutors and subject staff should send these students to HOYS for attention and follow this up with an e-mail.
PERSISTANT NON-COMPLIANCE WILL BE ADDRESSED THROUGH THE POST 16 DISCIPLINARY CODE PROCEDURE, BY HOYS AND HEAD OF POST 16.
